Netflix
Netflix is posed to take on cable T.V. services. Netflix allows members to stream movies directly to your T.V., iPad, or iPhone. At $8.99 a month, it is threatening premium movie channels such as HBO, Starz, and Showtime. They have signed contracts with several production companies giving them the right to stream over 20,000 movies and T.V. programs. With many T.V.'s coming with internet access built in, access to the Netflix network is becoming easier and easier. I am not ready to give up my HBO subscription, but 1 in 5 Netflix users substitute the service for their premium channels. The company could take the cable industry by storm. I found this article that goes into more detail: http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/10_39/b4196021822248.htm.
